Another week of blogging down! Maybe I’m finally getting out of my blogging slump as well as my reading slump. Wouldn’t that be nice? Honestly, it feels really good to get back at it. I missed interacting with other readers and discovering new books this way. When I restarted the blog back at the beginning of last year, it really helped me get through some tough times. Not that things are bad right now. Actually, despite all the problems out in the world, things are going pretty well for me. My family is doing well and staying healthy. I have a job that I love. My mental health is on an upswing. It feels really good to say that.
Since things are stabilizing for me, mental healthwise, my next goal is to try and take control of my physical health too. It’s something I’ve needed to do for years, but I am so bad at it! It’s not even so much that I want to lose weight (although I wouldn’t mind), I just want to feel better. Have more energy. I know that this will help with my mental health as well, keeping it under control. I’ll let you guys know how that’s going once I start working on it.
Blogging news: I’m considering adding a second day of Chapter-A-Long posts. I did the math this week. I have 10 chapters left in Half-Blood Prince. After that, Deathly Hallows has 37 chapters. That’s 47 chapters to get through, and if I continue to only do one per week, it will take me nearly a year just to finish the Harry Potter books. At one point, I was doing a chapter every day. I don’t think I can keep up that pace anymore – I was doing that when I was able to blog at work on the slow days, and I can’t do that at my new job. I might do Chapter-A-Longs on Mondays and Thursdays, moving my reviews (Nostalgic or otherwise) to Saturday. Just a thought.
Hey, you know what I haven’t done in a while? Reading stats! I actually have some this week! Yay!
Reading Progress for Friday, May 22nd to Thursday, May 28th:
- I read chapters 14 through 46 of Comes the Night by Norah Wilson and Heather Doherty, finishing that book. This is book #10 for the year so far.
- I read chapters 13 through 36 of The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. For this one, I am also reading the chapter posts over at Mark Reads.
- I read chapters 8 through 19 of A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir. This is another book for the #StartOnYourShelfathon over at The Quiet Pond.
- I read chapters 1 through 3 of Enter the Night by Norah Wilson and Heather Doherty, the second book in the Casters series.
I like doing this because even though it doesn’t feel like I’m reading a lot, when I put it down on paper like this (or digital paper anyway), it helps me see that I’m actually making a lot more progress than I think I am. Which is good for me to know.
That’s it for me, lovelies. I will see you all next week!
