Happy New Year, beautiful people!! Can you believe it’s 2020?? It doesn’t seem real!!!
2019 was a weird year. There were some really good things that came out of it, but there were also some very difficult and painful things I’ve needed to deal with. My mental health has taken a beating, but I’m still standing, so I guess that’s the most important thing. I think that 2020 will end up being a better year as long as I can maintain focus and keep from getting in my own way. I do that a lot.
But enough of all that! This is the place to talk about reading challenges for the upcoming year. I’m not doing all that much, as of right now. I will start out with two challenges and then, depending on how those go, I will add to it.

That’s right! The old favorite is back for another year. Honestly, this one is a no-brainer since I will be tracking my reads on GoodReads anyway. So what’s the goal for this year?
That’s right! 75! I figured that would be a good goal to aim for since I came so close to it in 2019.
Also, that is a really old picture on my GoodReads account. And that hair is not my hair – it’s a wig from a play I was in. My real hair would never curl like that or have that much volume.

I am super excited about this one. I discovered The Quiet Pond towards the end of last year and absolutely fell in love with their website. Plus, I really do need to start working on my TBR instead of constantly adding to it. I own so many books that I haven’t read, especially ebooks back when I was getting a bunch of free ones from BookBub. I have set my goal TBR at 30 books, which are listed below:
- Wanderers by Chuck Wendig
- A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir
- Perdido Street Station by China Mieville
- Code Name Verity by Elizabeth E. Wein
- Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
- Legend by Marie Lu
- Frozen by Melissa de la Cruz
- Unwrapped Sky by Rjurik Davidson
- Sleepers by Megg Jensen
- City of Blaze by H.O. Charles
- Silent Orchids by Morgan Wylie
- Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr
- Eternal Starling by Angela Corbett
- Call of the Herald by Brian Rathbone
- Open Minds by Susan Kaye Quinn
- Faelorehn by Jenna Elizabeth Johnson
- Amethyst by Heather Bowhay
- Ghostwalker by Ben Cassidy
- Ever Shade by Alexia Purdy
- The Wrong Girl by C.J. Archer
- Death’s Hand by S.M. Reine
- Blur by Kristen Middleton
- Rae of Hope by W.J. May
- Fledgling by Natasha S. Brown
- Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic by Meghan Ciana Doidge
- Thores-Cross: A Yorkshire Ghost Story by Karen Perkins
- A Question of Will by Alex Albrinck
- The Faerie Guardian by Rachel Morgan
- Everblue by Brenda Pandos
- Altdorf by J.K. Swift

You all may notice that my “Complete the Series” challenge is not listed this year, despite making good progress on it last year. I haven’t forgotten about it! There are still over 30 series on that list that I should definitely work on finishing at some point. My plan is to hop back over to that challenge once the #StartOnYourShelfathon is completed. Until then, the “Complete the Series” challenge is on hiatus. Don’t worry – y’all will be the first to know when it starts back up again!
I will be tracking my progress on my 2020 Reading Challenges page, so be sure to check in and see how things are going! I am looking forward to a year of excellent books, continuing on my other projects here on the blog (like finishing the Harry Potter series for Chapter-A-Long and reading more Nostalgic Reads), and just enjoying this lovely book blogging community! I am so happy to be a part of such a wonderful group of people!
Much love and light to you all for the upcoming year!

Goodluck on your challenges and happy reading! ☺️
Thank you! Happy New Year!
I just started reading S.M. Reine’s series and finished Death’s Hand last week. I really loved it, and thought the second book was even better. Using WordPress’s search function, I typed in S.M. Reine to see if anyone else was reading her work too, so that’s how I found you. I’m over at GrabTheLapels.com 🙂
Good to know. I look forward to reading it! 🙂
