Ugh, this has been a crazy week for me! Work has been a bit more busy than usual and that always leaves me feeling exhausted. Which unfortunately means less reading time.
Also, my other stress relief activity, playing Lord of the Rings Online, has been unavailable because they are moving data centers. They were hoping to have it done in a day, but ran into some technical issues and it is now day three with no LOTRO in my life. Hopefully they will be back up and running soon. I need my Middle Earth fix!
On the plus side, I am so excited for one of the other fandoms I follow: Critical Role. For anyone who doesn’t know, this is a streaming web series where a group of voice actors (who also happen to be best buddies) play Dungeons & Dragons. The stories they tell are just as compelling as any professionally produced television show I’ve ever seen. They have a Kickstarter campaign to take their characters and produce an animated special, which has been a dream of theirs for many years, and they have blasted past their original goal. Which means now it’s not just one animated special – it’s a series! Plus bonus content!
I love being happy for people who make me happy. 🙂
Let’s look at reading progress this week:
- I started Never-Contented Things by Sarah Porter and have so far read the first 15 chapters. I think. The chapters aren’t numbered, at least not on the ARC copy I got, so I’m sort of keeping a tally as I go so I have some idea. Enjoying it so far. It’s weird, which you know I like. I am really hoping to finish this one in time to review it next Thursday.
- I have not done much with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling. Only 2 chapters so far, but I should get some more reading done this afternoon, and hopefully another Chapter-A-Long post.
- I have read through chapter 57 of Kushiel’s Chosen by Jacqueline Carey. Still making good progress on that one. Roughly two thirds of the way through.
- I have read chapters 59 through 89 of Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas, which finishes this one for me! Book #4 is done! Very excited about this one. I’ll have a review up either next week (if I don’t finish Never-Contented Things in time) or the week after.
I’m especially happy with my progress. The Throne of Glass series and Phèdre’s Trilogy are both on my Complete the Series challenge list for this year! My goal was to complete three series on that list, so if I can keep going with these, that will knock two out early in 2019. I might be able to exceed my goal at this point!
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

I had a tough week at work and had to squeeze in my reading. And I also read more than one book at a time. I did get up extra early today and finished one!
My work week was a bit busier than I’m used to. Not bad, just hectic. And I didn’t use to read more than one book at a time, but I’ve sort of fallen into the habit. I guess that’s a good thing, as I can get more stuff read faster!
