Day 3 – A movie that makes me happy

This one is actually really hard for me, because quite frankly, I’m not much of a movie goer. The only time I’ve really gotten excited about going to see movies was when it was a long-awaited part of a franchise, preferably based off a book. The Harry Potter movies come to mind, as do The Lord of the Rings and The Hunger Games series. I also really love Star Wars. I’m one of those rare fans that actually appreciates what both the prequels and these new sequels are trying to do; even if the movies themselves were flawed (and come on folks, the original trilogy was flawed as hell – some perspective, please), there were still a lot of really good moments and really cool effects.

Going with something a bit more recent and something that has definitely made me very happy – The Greatest Showman. Yes, I know it’s about as historically accurate as a Disney princess, but come on! It’s got Hugh Jackman at his Hugh Jackman-est! It’s got Zac Efron and Zendaya being absolutely adorable! It’s got Keala Settle, a Broadway actress who I have gotten to see perform live, in a breakout performance. And it’s got amazing music that is nearly impossible to not sing along with.

I saw this several times in the theater, including one time at a sing-along viewing with a bunch of friends. It never fails to put a smile on my face.
