It’s that time of year. The crisp cool air, the changing leaves. All over the world, people have started counting down. Not for Christmas. Not for Thanksgiving. Not even for Halloween.
Five days left until the start of NaNoWriMo.
For anyone who doesn’t know, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. What started out years ago as a writing challenge among a group of friends is now a worldwide celebration, as writers silence their inner critics, break through their writer’s block, and do their best to get words out of their heads and onto the page.
50,000 words is 30 days. It’s a lofty goal. I have participated in NaNo several times and never made it. That doesn’t keep me from trying again. After skipping it for a few years, this year I am back and I will do this thing, by hook or by crook!
I will, of course, keep everyone up to date with my progress. I’m hoping that will keep me accountable, at least somewhat.
