November was a crazy month. My work load at my job tends to triple (and sometimes quadruple) during November each year, and this year was no exception – in fact, it was worse since I was helping out in other areas during the work day. It didn’t leave much time for reading or blogging, but let’s take a look and see what I did accomplish.
November Reads
- The Sweet Far Thing by Libba Bray
- Torment by Lauren Kate
- The Change by Kirsten Miller
- Starter Villain by John Scalzi
Starter Villain was a last minute read – my husband and I listened to it on a road trip. I also started Passion by Lauren Kate, but unfortunately did not finish it by the end of the month. It will go on next month’s tally.
So only four books. I honestly thought it would be worse.
Several days with very little reading done, and several with no reading done at all. I was really, really tired, you guys!
Challenge Updates
GoodReads Challenge: My goal was to read 75 books this year. As of the end of November, I am sitting at 66 books, which is slightly behind track, but not that bad. Should be easy enough to catch up before the end of the year.
Complete the Series: My goal was to complete six of the nineteen series that I haven’t completed yet. Still sitting at five completed. I haven’t completed any new series and, most likely, will not be completing any more in December either with the Readathon going on.
Beat the Backlist: My goal this year was to read 25 books off of my owned TBR. So far, I’ve only read seven, with nothing to add here for November. I do know that I will be reading one for the Readathon this month, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to squeeze in any more. As I said last month, doing this challenge while doing “Complete the Series” is really difficult. I may have to chose one or the other for next year.
A-to-Z Challenge: No new letters to add this month, which still leaves me with J, K, O, R, X, Y and Z. I think I have this planned out to complete next month with my Readathon TBR, so hopefully that works out.
Blog Updates
Here is where November really suffered. As much as I love blogging, it tends to be one of the first things sacrificed when I’m stressed and short on time. I still managed to make 10 posts this month though, which isn’t terrible. Here’s what I got:
- Month in Review: 1
- Audio Round Up: 1
- Book Blogger Hop: 2
- Teasers/Top Tens: 1
- WWW Wednesdays: 2
- Sunday Post: 1
- Random: 2
The two random posts were my Reindeer Readathon announcement and my Thanksgiving post. For December, even if I get busy (which I’m going to try not to – the holidays are stressful enough), I’m going to at least try to keep up with WWW Wednesdays and Sunday posts. I feel like those are two posts that are easy to do and also a good way to keep in touch with everyone here.
Overall, November was a rough month, reading-wise, blogging-wise, and real-life-wise. December is always a tricky month for me, but I have plans that will hopefully keep me focused.
